Please crit my mix (Melodic death)

The high-end seems quite messy, I guess it´s mostly the cymbals that take a lot of space in the mix, I would take ´em down a bit and
see if that helps enough. Kick and snare could be stronger and they get buried in the part where guitar leads kick in on the sides. Maybe carve some
space for the shells. For my taste the kick is a little thin so I would try to get some low end and mids in there to get some body to it, then maybe lift it and the
snare up a bit. If you haven´t heavily eq´d and cut the kick I guess it might benefit with addition of another sample that had punchy low end/mid range, if you did
heavily cut it then I´d try to back it off a bit :}
To me this sounds pretty heavily pressed against a limiter and you might have lost some of the drum transients there.
Vocals seem a bit dry, not that it´s a huge problem here but that might seem more of a problem if the cymbals are taken down.
Just my thoughts, hope this helped. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the feedback man! Yeah I think getting the OHs right has been the biggest problem for me in this mix so far, gonna play around with them some more as you suggest. Will take another pass at the other stuff you said too, can definitely agree with what you said. The kick has no sample replacement at all now and is quite heavily EQd, so might try getting a sample in there and/or backing a bit on some of the cuts. And as you said I do think I should back a bit on the master comp/limiting.

Again big thanks, it helps a lot!

Cool :} I took another listen with my better headphones and now I could hear you had more low end on your kick than I
thought. I was thinking that those cymbals seem like they have infinite amount of sustain, are they very compressed or
is it maybe cause of that hard limiting? Maybe compare the mix without the limiter and see if the cymbals seem more natural.
They might be the loudest thing in the mix and therefore being squashed the most in the limiting. That would also likely explain the
behavior of the cymbals. Most of the mentioned things actually might be caused by the limiter, maybe put a version here without it,
would be cool to hear it!

Try uploading a mix without any limiting going on, you're going far too overboard with the mastering for a mix that's currently unbalanced. The guitars are too gainy, the drums lack attack (hence why disabling the limiter would be a good idea for now), the guitars have a weird grainy quality to them and the vocals are a bit too loud at the moment. The guitar in the solo could do with more ambience in the form of delay and/or reverb (I like its tone though, it reminds me of the leads in The Jester Race in their very middy and smooth quality.)

I'd suggest disabling every effect on the master bus, then bring all your faders down and rebuild your mix levels with a reference mix that you like to make sure everything sits correctly.

Thanks a lot for your feedback guys, it really helps! I finally got some time to sit down and take another pass at it and yeah I had definitely gone overboard on the compression/limiting on the master track, here's a new version with no clipping from limiting going on on the master. As for the overheads I've been battling those the whole time during this mix, either they were too bright during some parts or they got totally washed out/buried, but I think they turned out a little better now atleast. Tried to go over the stuff you guys mentioned and do some changes. Would love some more feedback if you have the time to check it out.

Hmm, haw is your low end control?
Kick thump barely get through, it could be bass guitar muddying low end.
Suggesting to watch this guy's approach on low end controll... might be bit too long talk on start tho.
