i got used to the snare myself, and actually i'm really beginning to like it.the last step was to give the gits a tad more presence and clarity (should have used a TS).

It looks like LSD is in Germany, and I'd say that's where the band is from...And, they are singing in english, so....that's where you get the wierd enunciations and inflections. Sounds wierd to me, too, but I'd say it's due to their accent.

FWIW, I think the music is meh, vocals are not my cup of tea at all. Great production though. They sound like a nu-metal band trying to be metalcore.

I will
that'll be the bigger part of the process, helping them with their songwriting, accentuate their qualities and get rid of the bad parts.
i think the band is pretty talented though, they're like 20 years old.
i think with some help (me) and some better recordings (this was actually a rehearsalroom-recording) there should be much more to get out of them.

remember, everything was recorded in their practice room and they had no help with songwriting or something, so that's definitely not the 100% that are there to get out out of them.

If the band is from Germany, there are going to be problems any time they sing in another language. Rammstein is just one example. They've done songs in english and spanish and neither time did he sound like a native speaker. But that's not always a bad thing. Each singer has his/her own sound. Plus words are just things to sing at a stop sign while driving.

then of course bands like kreator, despair, sodom, helloween, running wild, and maaany more.
so i think that will not be the worst problem though.

I've never had any problems with my own bands touring and selling in different countries either.
(incubator, witchbane, subcutane) of course not as big as the above mentioned, but i guess the language was not the problem...

Everything sounds great apart from that snare.
To me it sounds like it needs quite a bit more crack. Its got the low mid power but non of the nice cutty crack. otherwise its a nice clean mix!

EDIT: Nah listened again the snare sounds "wrong" if you know what i mean, just doesnt fit the mix imo. I think if u change the snare, it will make the mix sound alot more powerful too.

you're absolutely right!
that's all stuff I'll definitely have an eye on when I'm leading the recordings...
in this case I just got the rehearsalroom-tracks to mix, so i didn't have any influence on that kind of things.

that band is getting airplay now with that song (official german station, not some internet radio or local or so).....


so producing their next album (and working on the mentioned problems) might perhaps pay off for me.

i wanna thank all of you for the advices you gave, i'll consider all that when i'm gonna produce their next full-length next year.

your duties sound nice to me, the only thing that's "weaker" is the vocal performance...for example the female vocals sometimes are a little bit off key, and well, to me sounds they're not really into what they're doing...like if they're not feeling the music that lies behind them...dunno how to explain it better, not a native english speaker here.
It's only about "feel" I guess, I can imagine the other players in the band banging to their stuff, but the vocals sound like if they're in the sofa reading the news ( all of this is just my twisted mind, sorry bout it, but I'm trying to make you "understand" what I mean hehe)
