Why do people care about polls?

Music is not a competition folks. Listen to what you enjoy, and let others do the same. If CoB were in a poll against Shakira somewhere and Shakira blew them out of the water, would you like CoB any less? Hell no.

What does a poll represent anyway? That one band is liked by more people than another? Great. Now if music weren't completely subjective, that would almost matter.
