Please rate my mix

Hello everyone
Here is my last composition, I'm waiting for opinions and advice.



There are four guitar tracks (lead guitar double takes panned R80 and L80,rythm guitar panned L70 and a extra/studio one panned C.
Drums are Steven Slate samples through Kontakt

The guitars all sound pretty dark and muddy, they need more punch and more clarity. The drums are really quiet, and they sound almost unmixed, aside from the OHs.

The Oh's are then less mixed really they are untouched expect an HP at around 400hz.

As for the guitars, tried really everything to get the "mud" out of there, nothing really worked.
Recorded the parts over and over again, trying to be as tight as possible.
Guitar tracks have a HP around 100hz and LP at 11000 - 12000hz, and a rather big curve at 3000-4000 cutting 2-4dB.Also a cut at 250hz
Couldn't find exactly where all the mud come from sweeped it over and over.
Tried to keep the gain and distortion rather down when recording too.

What I miss?

Your mix needs more drive. You have instrument balance issues here and there. There's so much to do that no-one bothers really to answer because of that. You'll need to study "how to mix" -guides from this forum for each instrument. It'll get you from this to WAY better results. Use this custom search engine from this forum to start
