I'm having an issue in logic. When I arm a track to record I hear the amp sim monitored, however, when i press record and try to actual record the guitar, I'm just hearing my dry signal and no amp sim. Software monitoring is checked in preferences and I've never had an issue in logic 8. It has only been since I've upgraded. Am I missing something very simple?

I think you still need to activate it for the session. In the bottom right corner there should be this button and it needs to be active (like in the picture):
If you can't see it, right click the bar close to the buttons and activate "software monitoring" in the top right of now open menue, close the menue and now click on the button to make it active.
