Eschewing guitar-driven music is fine if you honestly dislike guitar. Doing so because the majority of modern western music embraces guitar is sheeplike elitist behavior.

You have me all wrong.

I obviously have to love guitars because I play it everyday and listen to metal and rock music.

But whats great about non guitar music is its so amibugous and varies so much! Put guitars in it and we have that same tired old guitar sound with the same tired old chords.

Guitar is great. Love it. But sometimes I want to hear music that...I don't know, sounds different. People can say what they want but metal copies itself way more than mainstream music, and I blame the guitar dependancy.

You can only do so much with palm muting and chord shapes, but when you're programming music with artificial instruments the possibilities are endless.

John's actually got a point. We're obviously a guitar driven band, but we've decided that the melodies which usually come from solos will come from artificial (no pun intended) sounds instead. By giving the orchestration and electronica the same importance normally given to guitars, it puts them both on a level playing field, and sounds much more epic.

Of course, Skylab and Lady Gaga are completely different, but I see what he's saying.

I don't see the appeal. Pink isn't a particularly good singer and whoever writes her songs isn't terribly original. Mediocrity in the extreme.

listened to poker face.....annnd i really hate it. verse, chorus, beat, music, vocals, all of them are offensive to my ears. i love electronic music, but this is just pop trash. pretty much all electronic music with singing really sucks.
