Poor quality guitar = this result?

I used an Ibanez RGEXQM1 for this with an emg 81 in the bridge. I have mixed feelings about how the sound turned out but I'm curious to hear what you think. Too harsh and not enough low end, maybe? Please and thank you.

Well it sounds like a modeler to me. Lacks in the treble/presence area. This is the type of tone I used to get when I was trying to dial out harsh digital sizzle.

That being said the tone is OK. Just sounds weird.

Sounds pretty good, although it could be better! To me it sounds a bit harsh/middy, and I think the guitars are a bit too loud in the mix.

Sorry man, but it definitely doesn't sound huge here. I'd go back and work on the individual elements again. Reference against a mix you're aiming for if you have trouble getting the sound you want.

I'm well aware there's no massiveness to be seen in this mix, I think it's largely due to the guitar not being the best for tracking. A considerable difference would be seen with a nicer instrument.
