Poorly grounded apartment making a lad sad. Plz Help!!!

Gday mates,

I've just recently moved to a new apartment. When I got settled in and finished setting up all my gears, plugged in my guitar to my pod hd500x to finally record some ideas, I got instantly thrown back by this ridiculous hum. Also, my monitors are having this problem producing low noise hiss plus hum (it doesn't correspond with volume. I tried isolating just the monitor by powering only them and not plugging anything but still no luck). I tried plugging it into different outlets around the apartment but the problem still occurs. I then bought a furman m-10xe power conditioner and plugged every gear into it, took a deep breath and turned it on but it still doesn't make me happy.

I'm out of options now and finally concluded that it might be a wiring problem in the outlets. Rewiring the apartment will be a hassle and costly so, I'm just hoping someone can give me some advice regarding my issue. I'm totally frustrated by this point and don't even want to record anything. So, PLEASE HELP!!!

I actually had this problem for 2 years at my old studio. The electricity was so poor and nothing was grounded.

I tracked with Waves X-hum on my Inputs and it did the job. In my case, it was 60 hz hum, rumble, and DC offset.

If you don't know what kind of hum it is, just hit record (don't play anything), then look with a frequency analyzer.

I've heard those Ebtech Hum x things work as well, but I don't have any experience with them.

Yeah, I think I should try the waves x-hum. For ebtech, I'm from down under so, it's not an option. Thanks for your suggestion though.

I'm actually considering moving as a last resort. Monitors are humming even there is no audio inputs. So, I guess it's grounding issue.

I've heard those Ebtech Hum x things work as well, but I don't have any experience with them.

I have used one for the last 5 years. It works well. It's expensive ($70 USD I think), but the investment is worth it.

+1 for Ebtech but isn't just a small isolation transformer ?
Get an isolation transformer.

Is there no way to get the Ebtech stuff shipped to Australia? That's your best option, as it sounds like an issue coming from your power source, so just isolating the cables going to the monitors will still leave you with a hum on your inputs. I think. I hate issues like this...

They do ship to australia but the main problem is that the outlets are totally different from those in US and it's not recommended to use in Aus. But how about the Ebtech hum eliminator or the Behringer HD400? Is it really worth it? I mean the behringer one is kinda cheap but Ebtech is about 98 AUD. Should I go for it? Anybody got any experience with those?
