Maybe different up here in Canada than down there in the states, but I've never heard anyone say soda. And on menus here, it always says 'soft drink.'

The term soft drink originated so that you would be aware that it wasn't hard liquor. There's really no need to make this distinction now; it's quite clear. I usually say soda, but being in the middle of pop country, I sometimes slip into that. I'm not bothered by either. As long as you don't say Coke, it's fine. If you order a Dr. Pepper, it's not a fucking Coke.

You have to use some discretion, man. The whole "Sus just trying to start shit / lol arteest" thing is pretty irrelevant here. Not everything is open to trolling.

I was actually doing a sort of deep commentary. Think about my statment and what you just posted reeeeeaaaaal hard. (Harder then a priest at a playground) and you'll find the meaning.

So you would consider beer a soft drink, since it isn't hard liquor?
Hey, I'm not the one who came up with the term. But I think that any drinks with alcohol were considered hard, and other things were soft drinks. Of course, this probably originated in the '30s, or maybe even earlier. The soft drinks section of the menu at many restaurants has juices, iced tea, etc.

Nevermind, just check this:

Anybody who calls it "coke" when they are in fact not drinking "Coke" is a worthless piece of shit and should fucking die.

That being said I use Soda and Pop interchangeably.
