Yeah. That guy did something creative and pro-active in response to the experience of war.

He didn't get up in the morning, be silent for 2 minutes, and then go straight back to making dick jokes the rest of the year.

Strikes me that its just this method of a populous to feel connected somehow - a false sense of community for a few moments, and a huge pat on the back for everyone who cares, and a huge frown of disappointment towards anyone who doesn't care.

Seems a bit leechy to me.

I hate these religious cunts with all my strenghts, but from these news they actually got a point this time. Their protest probably doesn´t have anything to do with religion or costumes. There actually are hundreds of UK soldiers on their homeland countries, and they are actually mudering people.

Imagine that Iraq invaded your country based on lies, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians including your family. FOR NOTHING. Then you see this special day where all the invaders are called heroes and have their actions glorified. Wouldn´t you get pissed?

I would also have to agree with the comments on the Muslim community not really attempting to assimilate. On the whole practicing Muslims I have come across generally socialise exclusively within their own communities. This is understandable as they have very different morals to the majority of the UK, alcohol, women etc....
But, what I don't understand is why you would wan't to live in a country if you hate it? I can understand, to a certain extent why, in the case of those that were born here. But to use a shitty metaphor, it's like staying at your mates house and telling his mum she's a shit cook.

I´m just saying this because there´s something legit on their protest and I don´t think it has anything to do with religion. Put yourself on their shoes. Imagine that you are just like you are today (don´t give a grap about religion, etc) but had been born on Iraq instead. Suddenly, for nothing, 7,299 civilians were killed by invaders. Planes just went and dropped bombs everywhere. Live on TV. Now they´re getting medals for that. Would you have the right to get super pissed? Nope. You´re wrong. You don´t throw 36 Tomahawk missiles on a city, exploding civilian buildings in the proccess, and say "the blood is on their hands". The vast majority of kills were done by air and ground "Coalition forces". And it was not like WW2, where war was necessary. This time it was for nothing. At least for us, who live in other countries, is pretty obvious to see how messed up this whole war is, but it makes me sad that you can´t see that way. How many years do the germans took to realize how fucked up their cause was on WW2?

Not to mention, there are other countries that share their same basic cultural and religious ideals, which are NOT under military control of some sort. Wouldn't it behoove them (I love that word ) to move there...in similar surroundings and culture...than to move to a place which is knowingly at odds with their ideals, and then trying to force everyone there to bow to their ideals? I guess that's just too logical.

Exactly. My wife and I sometimes contemplate moving somewhere to Europe (though we can't afford it!!). But if so...do I want to live in some American community there? Hell no. The whole purpose of moving there would be to absorb and take part of THAT culture. Of course not dude. What the second gulf war brought to you in terms of freedom of speech? Is there anything that you can say now that you couldn´t before 03/20/2003? This war wasn´t about freedom. The soldiers that fallen were not freedom fighters. They are not heroes. They didn´t made life better for you but made life a LOT worse for those invaded.
