I just picked up their newest album "In Absentia" on Saturday and I really like it alot more than I thought I would. I have been told that this is their heaviest album to date, is that true? I also would like to know exactly how many albums they have made, when they were released, and what people think are some "essential" albums of theirs. If anyone could let me know I'd appreciate it!

yeah its the heaviest. I love in absentia... great album. My second favorite would have to be Recordings. Then stupid Dream, then Lightbulb sun. They are all equally great though. they are all different as well.

I find www.pt-fans.com to be much better the the official site. It's a bit less flash and glam, but you get all you would get from the official site, plus a few extra goodies I'm sure..

anyway, if you want to learn about their back catalogue then just visit the above link. Stupid Dream is my favorite, though all the rest have their merits aswell.

i just got there new one too.. i have to listen to it alot more though..ive only found 1 song that i lke so far..Wedding Nails. other than that its kinda dull IMO. ill give it alot of chance though. it seems to be an aquired taste as well

I've had the awesome "In Absentia" since its US release... but I just got "Stupid Dream" (1999) and "Signify" (1996) in the last few days. "Signify" seems to be a bit weak, I think... a few amazing songs like "Sever"... but some instrumentals I didn't care for and some dull ambiant tracks... it seems to be the convergence of the earlier space-rock ambiant style and the newer song-oriented style...

"Stupid Dream" is simply amazing... much lighter than "In Absentia"... but the songs are just so good... of note is the depressing closer "Stop Swimming"...

Signify has a lot of good stuff on it, I think. But it is a bit split between space rock and normal songs. A large part instrumental. It has 3 short ambient nothing songs on it that I skip sometimes, but the rest is great. And Sever is one of the bests songs ever. I let it loop for about 2 hours once.

I downloaded alot off an album called Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape..no clue if it's a leaked new album or what but I adore the stuff, more so than anything else by them I've heard.

Signify I think is a perfect merger of their old and new, songs like Waiting Phase Two and "Light Mass Prayers" never cease to trance me, and the album of improvisations from that era, "Metanoia", is one of my favorites.

I've got Signify, Lightbulb Sun and In Absentia so far... I love them all...but right now, In Absentia has taken control of my discman...

I'll have to get Stupid Dream soon... :D
