Porcupine Tree tomorrow!

Saw them last Sunday...here's the deal.

They will do 5/6 new tracks to start the show. All are excellent but two will stand out. One is a 4-5 min straight rocker that, I think, has the sexiest lyrics of any PT song I've heard...this is the single. The other will be introduced as "the long song" and it is HEAVY...an epic on the level of "The Learning", "Synogaga Satanyae", or "Deliverance". You will be stunned!

After a 5 minute break they will return and, maybe, play this set:

Shallow
Open Car
Darkest Eyes
Arriving Somewhere
Halo
The Kreator has a Mastertape
For Even Less
...at this point things get a bit blurred but I can guarantee that the encore will include, the most perfect of PT songs, "Trains"!! A song that they did not play on their last US tour.

In a word...Inspiring...PTree is rock/metal at the very highest level. It transcends both classification and exclusion...metal, goth, psychedelia, funk, blues, grunge, industrial, pop, prog, avant-garde and more! Quite simply, the finest band on the planet right now, at the height of their powers. They flat fucking own!!

Gavin Harrison = Gene Hoglan = Van "The Man" Williams > anyone

PS - a Nevermore/Opeth/PTree US tour would be incredible and might be just what is needed to save Nevermore from their recent, crushing sameness/monotony

The Long song a.k.a.: The 17 Minute Monster.
New PT stuff is wonderful.
Enjoy the soulflow, girl!

if jeff loomis didn't write his drum parts with a a drum machine he might actually ......well...

They were playing a bunch of new songs first, but Steven Wilson's amp stopped working, so while they fixed stuff, he played Even Less and Thank You (the Alanis Morisette song, haha) on his acoustic. It was rad. Second half was:

Open Car
Sound of Muzak
Buying New Soul
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
.3
The Start of Something Beautiful
Trains

Encore:
Halo
Blackest Eyes

All the people from my school were big pussies, so I went up front by myself and some creepy dude took a picture of me.

Midway through trains all the other band members threw stuffed unicorns at SW, and I got one and got it signed. :)
