Portable mp3 player: Do you own one?

If I understand things correctly, I'd have to get all my CD's on the computer first and then upload them to the MP3 player, no? That's what I can't be arsed with!

To my surprise, my father did not get me one for x-mas. Instead, he gave me a check for $500. I'm not complaining...it's for the "Help get SL out of student loan debt" fund. ;-)

Perhaps things are different here in the U.S. with regards to mobile phones. For a lot of us here, it's cheaper just to have a mobile and ditch the land line. Calling all over the country is included and it's, well, for lack of better words, mobile, so many of us here have it as their only phone.

Yeah the CD's do take a bit but I managed just to do it over a couple of weeks. Now whenever I get a new CD I put it straight on and it's easy.

Interesting about the mobiles. Might be cheaper here too!

I always find it frustrating that there's so many iPod specific accessories... a lot of them would actually be handy. I ended up making my own sock for my iRiver and I'm looking for a portable speaker set that has a dock for an iRiver. Sadly I don't think it exists. However, the handiest little accessory I have is an FM transmitter. You just plug into the headphone jack, turn it on, tune your radio to the right station and start listening. Great for car trips where you don't want to listen with headphones.

I have one of those, only it's a cassette adapter. Plug it into the headphone jack and then put the tape into the deck. Sound quality is fine, just an annoying whirring noise.

I used to have one of the tape things. Sound quality from the FM transmitters probably around the same level but it's lots more convenient because there's barely any cassette players in my house anymore.

I really like it. All I know is pretty much everybody at school has an iPod so I wanted something different. I've never really tinkered with an iPod so I can't really compare them but the Vision:m is pretty damn cool.

actually i stayed with a friend for 2 weeks who has a shuffle and i managed to hold on to it for most of those two weeks and i thought it was great. just for exercising or something, put on your absolute favourite songs or whatever and go. the fact that you cant choose the song is good for going jogging and stuff i reckon plus its tiny.

I think i better start doing something like that with my creative because i spend about 5 or 10 minutes deciding what to listen to on my walk into town or work. I think i spent nearly 15 minutes deciding yesterday. It generally goes something like this..

Ha, I've never had trouble knowing what I want to listen to. Although it can be a nuisance clicking through all those songs just to get to the one I want to listen to. I have a 765 mb mp3 player, which is not nearly enough but I will be getting at least a 30gb mp3 player soon.
