I've been tossing an idea around since the September 11th events. Personally I disagree with the reasons we are now at war with Afghanistan and I'd like to organize a show in order to help make a donation to the Afghan refugees that are starving this winter due to the lack of food getting into the country.
I figure that if there were like 10 to 12 bands in the run of a day, of all types of music (metal, punk, hardcore, or anything else that can bring some kind of message) we could get a good crowd at a decent size venue (perhaps Merlin's).
If it's a charity event and the money gets placed into the hands of, Oxfam for example, club owners would probably be lenient on the charge. It's good for the scene and it's a good cause as well because a lot of people who don't see different styles out of their familiar favorite genre would be exposed to something different.
Anyone interested, or have any ideas?
