I just got a set and haven't used them yet.
Do you crank these down tight against the head or leave them sitting on top. Whatever minimizes mis-triggering the best. I noticed they have a nice moongel effect if I have them cranked down, but if it causes me two days of editing, then I don't want that. It would seem that the tighter I have them to the head the better as far ass cross triggering or whatever.
What do you do?
Also I have run them directly into my converters but the signal is clipping like crazy so I run them through preamps now. Do you pad yours down or just let them clip?
Thank you

I Fasten them pretty tight and lower the sensitivity on the module (live) but it depends if that specific drum would need extra dampening, otherwise not and heighten sensitivity. If they clipping it should be fine seeing as you will be replacing it with a sample (assuming that's what you'll be doing of course). \
But I'd rather have it double trigger than miss trigger, as i prefer to delete something that's not supposed to be there than adding something i think might be there (if i don't know the songs)

You will never look back, dude. I run pretty hot levels on them too. The cool thing though is, if you get a weak or missed hit, you can edit in a good hit in it's place. Mine are usually just smashed up against the head, not torqued too hard, but good enough to not move. You wanna get a piece of paper or felt or something under the claw of the trigger, so you don't put a "dent" in the shell, though. Oh yeah, I think I fucked up a trigger running phantom power to my snare trig one time. It could have gotten hit with a stick and fucked up, but I'm not sure, so I always watch out for that. Congrats!
