My current tone with Mago's DI :

Didn't adjust anything compared to my settings, i guess i could get a better tone for those DIs, it was my first reamp. I like how it sounds (maybe it could use a bit more low mids though, dunno...).

Not totally "raw" since i used the Torpedo built-on post-fx EQ, and a little post-EQ in Reaper on guitars (HP@80hz, slight bite boost@5khz, LP@12khz).

Signal chain is : Engl SE 6L6 ("middy" EQ settings, chan 3 hi gain, old tubes :( ) -> Torpedo VB-101 (Engl 412 Vintage Cab with V30's / very low speaker excursion / Blue DragonFly condenser mic dead on but a couple of inches back / Post-fx : lo-cut @103hz, EQ (Low 0; Lo-mids +2; Mid +3; Hi-mids +1; High -1), Exciter 3% @3 Khz) -> RME Fireface UC -> Reaper (on the 2 guitar-mix and on the full-mix only : with just some slight EQ on guitars (HP@80hz, slight bite boost@5khz, LP@12khz), no mastering fx on the master bus)
 
These aren't really that great, but it's the best tone I've been able to get out of my amp and cab in the room and conditions I'm working under. No TS or noise gate either. It's a 5150 through a Mesa 2x12.

Since these were recorded, I've switched up my micing position and I'll post some newer tracks tonight that (I think) sound better.
 
been looking at this thread for the past week, really like everyone's reamps that they are getting. i just start mixing an album this week and did 5150 reamps today so thought i would share. I know i do not have the greatest tone in the world or anything lol but thought it would be worth showing anyways.

i might reamp those through a JCM800 later.

Reminds me of the last The Acacia Strain tone-wise and music-wise. Nice guitar tone for this style of music i thinK.
 
This thread deserves a good bump. Any other raw 5150/6505 tones out there people are willing to share? I've been trying to dial in my amp to my room to sound good and more raw guitar reference tracks for the 5150 would be fantastic. Thanks!

Brian, would you mind sharing more information about the tone please? (like amps, cabs and mics used, mic positioning, etc) How did you get it to sound SO FULL?!? Would you mind uploading and sharing the separate takes solo'd down the middle to use as a better reference?

I 2nd that. No matter what I just end up with a blurry harsh midrange and muddy lows... Completely unusable no matter what mic/amp/cab/guitar/player combo. I'd love to get the skinny on that.
 
I'm going to give this a bump... I'm dying to see more information on brianhood's clip. I'm currently trying to nail some tones with an Axe FX and might share the clips and patches in the next few days. I'm new to recording though, so no mixed clips will be available yet. I'm about to record my first band using Axe FX and Slate Trigger, so soon I'll have something complete to share.
