Here is one from a recent project of mine. For this project I was going for sort of a vintagey prog sound, more than a brutal metal sound. Fat but smooth, with a nice midrange gonk.

I know, Brian makes great tones. His amps, cabs, mics and (most) processes are no different than anyone else's, in his own words. Somehow his 5150 just manages to sound better than others.

Actually the first JVM clip I really dig...work awesome for teh thrasz!
Palm mutes sound a bit strange though,but I guess thats the playing style.

It's funny. The JVM reamp is actually one of the worst sounding guitars I ever tracked in my life. Totally inappropriate for the genre too. The JVM worked an absolute miracle with it. Love that amp.

The Hector/6505+ clip was being fed by a more 'normal' guitar, but unfortunately the quality of the DIs wasn't quite there.

So neither clip really lives up to its full potential. Here's for some better sources next time!
