Hey guys! I just ordered a pair of active Alesis M1's for my home studio (I know it's not a great monitor, but It's what I can aford and they are the ones I liked the best in the price range). I have a pair of massive vintage (bought by my dad in the late 70's) kenwood HiFi's. I'd like to use them as reference speakers but I need something halfway decent to power them. I'm doubting between buying a HiFi amp (one of the cheaper Denon or Maranrtz) or a studio amp (mabe an alesis or samson). What do you think? I'm more inclined towards the HiFi one...

Go for the Alesis or the Samson. Hifi-amps are often not linear enough and sometimes they have a very bad and to high output impedance.

Super cheap on Ebay etc, multi-award winner. No tone controls or rubbish like that. Much better than any cheap "studio" amp.
