Greetings! First off let me express my sincere gratitude to everyone for making the show a near sellout already!!!!!! We will not dissapoint!!!!

Last year, the age limit for the show was 18 and up. I really do not see things changing this year, but I will continue to work on making it an all ages show....

Thanks again!!!!!

Shane

A lot of times, it's not up to the promotor, but the venue, to make the call on age limits. I'm sure Shane could move the PPPP to a different venue, but it's probably more cost effective to have it at Earthlink. EVERBODY has to go through the dilemma of not being able to see age limit restricted shows. I hung out outside of a bar (until security chased us away) to hear The Michael Scenker Group on their first tour. It seems like only yesterday, and now I have people telling me I'm too OLD to be going to shows like this! :p

LOL, and buy out all the Mylanta, Rolaids and Tums within a 50 mile radius to truly make them suffer!

So I guess it will be safe to assume that the young-ens will be camped out on the sidewalk and we will be nice old farts and open the windows so they can hear the tunes?

It doesn't really matter to me, now. I will be 21 by the time September rolls around any way, so I'd make it this year even if it were 21-and-up.

Can't wait.

Well, this ain't gonna make me popular, but I must say the younger generation has become a generation of instant gratification. Shit, I remember having to wait for years until I was old enough and finacially able to go to shows, not to mention having to actually SAVE up from my minimum wage job for that $15 L.P. No fucking downloading for us. I remember a time there were no ALL-AGES shows. I think you're lucky there are quite a few now. If you're too young for this year, bide your time, your day will come.

Guys, believe me, I would absolutely love to make this an All Ages show.... The Loft is NOT a resturaunt/bar like the Vinyl downstairs is. It is a straight up bar, that serves alcohol till last call. That is the reason in a nutshell. It is not my decision, and is completely out of my hands. However, that does not mean I will not continue to try and slam the venue with requests to make it an all-ages show. I am and I will continue to do so. I think the younger generation is the future of Progpower, and it's very refreshing to me to see all of the kids digging the music we all hold so dear.

So know that I will continue to do my best to change things....

I don't think it's accurate to paint "the younger generation" with such a broad "instant gratification" brush. By no means am I the oldest person here, but I am also far from being the youngest... but I do know where you are coming from... I don't think I actually saw a rock concert until I was 20. But the advent of file sharing and the fact that all-ages shows are more common now, is not a good reason why people should not question the logic of the pre-party venue being age-restricted. The main concert is all-ages, and this pre-party is right upstairs in the same venue. The serving of alcohol is a dubious reason for this, as most venues (like the main Earthlink venue) use wristbands anyway. So, granted, there's nothing that posting on a message board can directly do to change the situation, but I don't see a problem with people voicing a complaint. Also, it's pretty cool on the part of Shane to work on behalf of the younger ProgPower fanbase to try to get this changed in the future.

My previous comment was more of sarcasm than distaste.

Sumeet is right though, I think AMBR's comment was a little harsh. There are more opportunities available now to younger kids than there were before, but it doesn't mean I don't earn the money to pay for my own shit (like ProgPower for instance).

Question to Shane..is the "screw wristbands, just simply nobody under 18" policy the venue's idea, or is it due to zoning?

Obviously I know this is the establishments policy so I wont go into that.......but Im one who supports the younger fans.

Its these fans who are keeping this music alive. I am so amazed when I go to a show like say Symphony X and see such young fans. I love it, and the fact that these younger kids are diggin this style of music and will keep the Torch lit for future generations.
