I'm a el34 user,
1) what do you think about sveltana el 34 power tubes ?
2) What is your fav.preamp tubes? ( e.H, G.T ecc, ecc )

Ok Burny, I used and abused Sveltana for many years but I don't Know what's the tonal differencies between Sveltanas and another type..for ex jj or Helectro Harmonix...

The differences are quite subtle. It's more about price/durability ratio.
EH sounds more compressed to my ears but maybe that's just a placebo effect.
There's way more sonic differences between EL34 and 6L6 for example.
Or between different preamp tubes brands/models.
As long as the bias setting is correct and the tubes are paired, every EL34 should sound about the same.
Also, don't get fooled by Groove Tubes. It's just a quality control label, they do not make their own tubes. They just put
their stamp on tested Sovtek and Svetlana or whatever. Overpriced if you ask me.

:hotjump: :hotjump: :hotjump: Ok thanks, I Understand... is more simple for me to find sveltana selcted tubes, I have 12 at home

6L6 have more headroom, more hi-fi sound.
EL34 are warmer and somewhat old school.

I don't know much about tubes, but my amp came stock with all groove tubes. I have replaced the pre-amp ones with electro-harmonix and I definitely noticed an improvement in the gain sound. I want to replace the power tubes,6l6's, with Electro-harmonix's soon. If I stay with 6l6's when I change brands, I don't have to get my amp biased for them right? I thought that was only if you swithced types of tubes but I don't know for sure.

No.. .you must controll the bias current...I tell you a little story:
2 Years Ago I must change the el34 tubes( Sveltana ) of my Marshall power amp.
The teach says me that he would put grove tubes el34 in it...If he don't made the bias my power amp was dead.
After 2 days I put it a new quartet of Sveltana.
If you will replace the tube with the same types and with the same type of selection the bias not change.
