Primal Fear - Delivering the Black

Randy Black is also leaving the band due to "differences" between him and Ralf. They posted it on their Facebook yesterday.

This sucks bad. I love Randy, he was killer to watch play live and he was the perfect drummer for Primal Fear. Too bad his relationship with Ralf went south...

Lots of comedy in this thread. Anyway, PF hasn't really released a decent full length since their debut. To be fair though, they are in the top tier pastiche acts going today.

That's a pretty harsh criticism, TDD. I dare say that Primal Fear is one of the most consistent power metal bands to ever come out of Europe. Though I have my preferences within their discography, I've never been disappointed with their output. For as much as I enjoy Priest (and I wouldn't knock on their new album as much as these guys), I have to side with Greg, Justin, and Simon on this one.

Stay metal. Never rust.

You have to get into the TDD mindset.

Only bands that are old are good.
Bands that are new that sound like bands that are old are bad.
New albums by bands that are old are always good, even when they're bad.

It probably helps to hit yourself in the head with a hammer a few times.

Delivering The Black has the better production, the better singer as of now and is a killer disc IMO but the new Priest is still very good and not "pedestrian" in my book.
IMO, if Redeemer of Souls was released by some unknown Euro band, no one would be talking about it. I feel the Priest name brand and their nostalgia factor help elevate the music. This seems to happen a lot with 80s bands. Case in point; people were waxing poetic about the last Queensryche record. However, when all was said and done, it ended up in very few Top 10 lists. I think these records are immediately met with such diminished expectations, that they make a great a first impression. However, once that newness factor dissipates, the music has no staying power, because it was never all that good to begin with. Obviously it’s music, so it’s completely subjective. But this seems to be a theme with most classic bands.

Agreed...
Primal Fear's attention to sonic quality and production CAN NOT be understated... they have some of the best mixes not only in the metal world but in all of music as well... This is one of the qualities I enjoy about them the most.

PRIMAL FEAR VOCALIST RALF SCHEEPERS ON SPLIT WITH DRUMMER RANDY BLACK - "THERE WILL BE NO DIRTY LAUNDRY"

Primal Fear vocalist Ralf Scheepers has checked in following the news that drummer Randy Black has left the band due to "irrecocilable differences":

"For all of you out there who are wondering now about the reasons why Randy has left the band, we’ve agreed to keep the reasons private. Decisions are made and have to be accepted. It's as sad as it is but Randy and I have agreed on having respect to each other and there will be NO dirty laundry! If we can't work together as pro's anymore, we still can go separate ways like pro's. So please show some respect to Randy's decision, to him as a person, the band's future and me as a person. Thank you!"

Well that's no fun. I didn't want a Queensryche-level, yearlong shitfest but at least a few passive aggressive Facebook statuses full of hints and escalating levels of anger would've been a fun way to kill time for a few weeks. Damn professionals being all professional.

That's pure gold.
