Pro tools 9 ungrade from LE / M question.

Hi.

If I want to upgrade to PT9 from M powered ( which I own ) it cost £250. But I have an idea. Can I not buy PT8 LE off ebay, install that, then get the £150 upgrade to PT9 instead.

I know I need an Mbox or similar to run PT LE, but I don't need to run it, I only need to install it, and then get the upgrade, no??

As PT LE discs are plentyful on ebay, and pretty cheap, this is a good option, unless I'm missing someting.. ( which is quite possible )

While the installation of LE, it wants you to connect your Digi-Interface at some point, in order to install the drivers, etc ... so I dont think it may work without the hardware dude.

Isn't the PTLE license tied to the hardware too?

in other words, just buying the disks wont actually get you a valid license to use for the upgrade.

Someone correct me if im wrong here.

you need to have a valid digi hardware serial number to get your upgrade from LE to PT9

Yeah, you enter the hardware serial to authorize.
