Pro Tools problem, advice needed

Let me just say that this is a great forum, and it seems like a nice community. I actually post a bunch on Sevenstring.org as well, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

My friend's hard drive developed bad sectors from a power outage, and it won't boot to Windows XP anymore. I was wondering if it is possible to reinstall Pro Tools on a separate drive without buying a new license key. I tried backing up the drive, but it won't read the bad sectors, and I want to run CheckDisk, but I'm afraid it's going to possibly delete Digidesign data. What suggestions do you guys have?

as long as you have Digidesign hardware it should work.

Yeah, I shouldn't think there would be any problems. As long as you have the original license key, you should be able to reinstall it fine.

I hope for your sake you either have the original software key or you registered with digi. If you didn't do either I suggest you find that little card with the license number on it.
