Hey guys, this is my first post, I've been reading these forums for a while and I've been able to find answers to most questions I've had without posting until now. So here's my predicament - a friend of mine was able to get the Pro Tools HD software with a bunch of plugins, including the Waves platinum bundle, sound replacer, auto-tune, and more. But the guy he got it from sold the interface already. So all we have is the software. Can we use the Pro Tools HD software without the Pro Tools HD hardware? And If we can't use Pro Tools HD, can we at least run Pro Tools plug-ins in Reaper? Any and all help will be appreciated.

you need the digi hardware to run HD, and only native, non PT (RTAS/TDM) plugins will work in reaper.

Thanks for the reply. So in order to use this software, we would need to buy the Pro Tools HD interface and preamps, since the interface doesn't have preamps. So would these Pro Tools plug-ins work in a Pro Tools LE system? Or would we be better off just sticking with Reaper and buying the plug-ins we need? If we stick with Reaper, we may buy the M-Audio ProFire 2626 interface.

Buy an old 96 interface to go with your cards. There is one with 16/2 for less then 1000euros on ebay. Then buy whatever preamps you'd find suites your purpose.
