Probably a really dumb question about Andy's C4 settings...

probably a dumb question too, but how much gain reduction do you guys have in that band, when using c4? :)

Once again play the track while in mix and adjust from there.....it depends on the mix...

On topic: I always kind of assumed the use of the variable output level (make up gain) on any compressor is to allow you to match the level when the compressor is working with the level when it's bypassed. That way you can flip it on and off and hear whether you've made the mix better or worse without an inconvenient volume difference.

In case this is completely obvious to you, no offense.

That's my thinking as well, but from a tonal perspective, I was just wondering if it "sounded" better in terms of guitar tone to make up the gain within the plug in or using the fader.

Well that is the idea but there are so many diffrent things going on......espically if your going the hardware route....all these things can play into the sound produced....

I haven't been able to find that Sneap preset for the C4 - all the images everywhere are down, and archive.org has nothing...does he have it up somewhere else on his site (hidden from me), or does someone have it saved? I guess all of the other places that I've been referred to linked directly to his site, and that one went byebye.

Off topic slightly, but I think the new Atreyu guitars are the ugliest that ESP has ever released. Even uglier than the new George Lynch guitars. Not a fan of Vipers or gold guitars, but in particular the white EX with blood on it is very poorly silkscreened (I saw it at NAMM up-close along with the other ESP 06 models.) And don't get me started on Atreyu's music...

That being said, the Mike Amott Ninja V is absolutely amazing!

For the most part, I 100% agree. Except, I love Vipers. I don't like the Atreyu EX at all, and I don't like the color scheme and FR on the Atreyu Viper. But, I looove the flat top and binding idea on that axe.

I agree with that. My favorite one from the new series (only seen on pictures) is the Stef B-7 tho, looks nice. PAGE HAMILTON's pretty cool as well... Ha, those are rather conventional guitars anyway...
