probably common knowledge already but...

I read they brought back "Artefacts of the Black Rain" as well, at least at some shows.

they shouldn't fucking bother with ANY of their old stuff with two guitar players. disgraceful...

I don't follow. Aren't Bjorn & Jesper both still in the band? Aren't they both guitarists? I'm way out of the In Flames loopty doop.
ya... though they had glenn instead of björn on jester race

i don't think that's what he means tho

^ Righto

I meant it like this:

When you hear an In Flames song from the earlier albums (and a lot of times even the new albums), all the awesome harmonies you hear require three guitar players unless there's no rhythmn behind it (which is rare for In Flames). I read an old interview where Jesper said that there were sometimes seven guitars (yes, seven) going at once during some parts of TJR. Personally I think that's retarded, because you don't need a 3-layer harmony over two rhythmn guitars and a two-layer lead. So, when you see all of this stuff live, you get one part of the harmony (so it's not a harmony) and one rhythm guitar- sounds like shit.

meh... you do realize every 2-guitarist heavy metal band in the world has pulled off stuff like that decently for fucking decades

ask judas priest or iron maiden (pre 2000) fans if they think it sounds like shit when they leave out the rhythm guitar for harmony parts... that's why you have a bass guitar you know!

and yeah, 7 layers, sure, but that's probably two identical layers for each rhythm guitar, left and right = 4 tracks (and these likely play the same thing anyway), and then maybe a three-part harmony or one lead dubbed + harmony

How did In Flames used to do it then? Did they bring an extra session guitarist on stage? Or did they just live with not having a 2nd harmony lead? EDIT: Or did they just let the bass play rhythm a la Harris?
