My amp is has a weird issue where, at low volumes, it tends to be really overcompressed and the sound fades in and out slightly. When I was in at practice or a show, this didn't happen because I always had it up a good amount. But at home recording I can't get it up that loud. I've never had an issue with this on any other amps so I'm not sure if its a matter of "tube amps need to be pusged to sound good." I'm thinking it could be a power tube issue (I've tried different pre tubes but it only gets worse sometimes) so before I blow $ on tubes I wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks a lot.
