:bah: Hi guys. Ive been out of the metal loop, for personal reasons, for the last year, and I was hoping you guys could bring me up to speed on the latest and greatest, in the vein of Sym X (of course), Zero Hour, and so on.

Thanks a bunch!

Jason

polyeidus! wow a blast from the past! ABSOLUTELY you must get Ayreon's The Human Equation...

also dunno if you liked Edguy, but their new one HellFire Club just kicks alot of ass, not like their typical cheesy powermetal sound at all, its more 80's hard rock inspired.

Hmm, not sure how much SyX news youve been reading up on but Pinella and Allen have their solo albums out this year as well as SyX's new one due out soon too.

I knew someone had been missing around here lately!

Well, about new stuff........hmmm? There is a band called Winds that really owns, they have like 2 albums and the second one is fairly new. It is kind of a neoclassical metal but in a different sense because instead of the typical Malmsteem influenced guitars it is neoclassical because every track has plenty of piano and violins. The guitars are more driven through a rumbling bassline and the vocalist has a dreary almost mellow sound to it, but don't worry there is still plenty of awesome shredding in the mix!

I can't recall how long its been since you have been around but in Feb Mag9 released there new album Decoding the Soul. It isn't as good as Reality in Focus imo but it is still good.

If you like Therion they recently released there double album symphonic masterpieces Lemuria/Sirius B.

Evergrey's new one The Inner Circle is quite awesome, and while it is still pretty heavy it is still more progressive than Recreation Day.

And a few more new ones by these bands: Time Requiem, PoS, Angra

There is also a band on this forum called Mercury Rain, they are pretty good, they are like halfway between sounding like Nightwish and Lacuna Coil. BTW the US release of Nightwish is out and even though I didn't think I would like it too much I am pretty intrigued by it.

Thanks for all the input. New I could count on you guys...

I found a band today at my nearest cd-depot called Tiles... kinda DT sounding stuff, pretty cool if you ask me. It's on the Inside Out label, and they're from WI(US) I think. Check it out.

polyeidus are you familiar with any Dead Soul Tribe? They've been recently getting alot of attention due to Devon Graves' amazing performance in Ayreon. If not, they're not THAT metal, more leaning toward the prog rock thing, but really cool and Devon Graves is a phenomenal singer, extremely versatile.

Yeah, I think I have most of their stuff. Thanks though.

So how have you been? Looks like you've been busy this year with the web design, etc.

Also, no one mentioned Heavens Cry's new one, "Food for Thought Substitute". Sounds pretty killer!!! I got an mp3 off their website.

Havnt heard of these, I'll have to look unto them.

oh not too busy thanks for asking, just Matt and Jeremy are my two main sites that I keep maintained, but I havent been out soliciting for anything else. My focus is going to be changing next year away from webdesign altogether when I start Uni.

How about you? What have you been up to?
