Prog. Metal

No! Get "Operation Livecrime" now. Shows the true talent of this band and they sound much better/powerful live.

I should have said get "Livecrime" in addition to the original album.:)
Both are great!
Agree on MC-2. Was excited to hear this release and I actually pulled the cd out of my player after 3-4 songs. I couldn't listen anymore and it bummed me out being that disappointed in it.

Yeah. The live thing where they did both back to back is good, though.
EDIT: Mindcrime at the Moore.

Disillusion - Back to Times of Splendor
Subterranean Masquerade - Suspended Animation Dreams
Symphony X - Divine Wings of Tragedy
Orphaned Land - Mabool
Maudlin of the Well - Bath, Leaving Your Body Map
Opeth - Still Life, Blackwater Park
Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane

These are pretty much the best that the genre has to offer. All a million times better than the crap that Dream Theater releases.

I picked up a used copy of Queensryche - The Warning this past weekend and it is fucking awesome. I must delve more into prog metal shortly

The Warning is an amazing album. En Force is one of my favorite songs by them; so epic.

I was thinking of getting Operation: Mindcrime. Does it pull of the concept well?

Yes. It's a very good album.

Note that Operation: Mindcrime II sucks.

Quite true; too bad.

Sieges Even

The Art of Navigating By the Stars and Paramount are both incredible records.

Yes, big fucking :kickass::kickass::kickass: to COMMUNIC! Love this band, can't wait for the new cd in May.

VISION DIVINE- basic prog / metal / rock with nice melodies.
OUTWORLD- for a more uptempo-ripping style of prog / metal.

Wow, just listened to outworld, the never, shredding! Do not know how I missed them, Thanks!

Yes, Rusty Cooley is an amazing player. They recorded a second cd w/(new) Brasilian singer Carlos Zema and he has since left the band. I believe this cd will eventually be released but it seems to be up in the air? One of the original founding members of Outworld (thier keyboardist) has left as well...who knows?

one of my fave tunes called "Warcry" from thier debut...however, with the new singer cutting vocals to the original track.

some live new stuff

Every prog metal fan should definitely check out Blotted Science, they're awesome. It's Ron Jarzombek's new project, so except crazy guitar work. The bass and drums are on another level, because Blotted's got Alex Webster and Charlie Zeleny to complete the line-up. They've got an album out called The Machinations Of Dementia.
