I like particularly both because both have certain qualities that I enjoy. But I picked progressive just becuase at times it does get more interesting than power. Progressive doesnt get old as easily as power does when I do a cd run of about 3 months or so.

i put in for power. A lot of prog bands don't do anything for me. Especially the ones I try out and it sounds like they roll tape and eacjh musician goes off in their own little world.

I do like Symphony X, so any bands similar to them I might enjoy as well. DGM I picked up and the CD I have I enjoy quite a bit too. I have Mullmuzzler's 1st CD, I love that one, but I disliked the 2nd one.

One of the bands at PPIII i liked too, I'm pretty sure it was Threshold, I'll have to find some sound clips and check so I don't buy the wrong discs.

I feel the same way about power metal. I mean so many power metal bands use the same exact style that is is getting old, thats why I prefer prog. But bands like Tad Morose, Brainstorm, Iced Earth and some of the newer ones that I am getting into like Platitude and Cydonia kick ass. I change every year so who knows what I will be into later but I am into both ,but prog is a little more for me right now.

I prefer to think in terms of individual bands, so I didn't vote

Prog ... because Power seems to be somewhat stagnant these days. How many times can you rewrite the same old Power song? Whereas in Prog you get bands like SX, DT, FW, POS, PoO, PT, ZH, Ayreon, Arena, Evergrey, VP, etc. All unique, all excellent, all metal.

I am glad I am a very big fan of both. That way I don't find myself saying "this lineup is too power..." and stuff like that. But I think I swing a little to the Prog side.

You must buy some Threshold immediately! Don't deprive yourself any longer! :) If you liked what they played at PPIII, I'd suggest starting with Critical Mass and Hypothetical. Most of their set came from those two albums. If you live in the States, you can get them from www.theendrecords.com and have them tomorrow. Ok maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but they are *very* fast. I ordered some cds last Thursday and had them on Saturday. :)
