Prog or Power

The option for BOTH needs to be there, because it's about 50/50 with me, depending on my mood.

I chose Prog only because I'm listening to Zero Hour 'Towers of Avarice' right now and this album still blows me the fuck away.

I listen to more prog than power, but I like bands in both sub-genres. Some bands also fit both categories like BoP.

I'm glad I like both Prog and Power BUT I prefer Power. The Prog I do like are bands such as Zero Hour, Evergrey, Dream Theater and whatnot. I dislike Prog bands that seem like they need to be progressive just to prove theyre good musicians, ie new Andromeda. Last year I can say I loved every single set except for Devins and the 20 min of PoS I saw I enjoyed, why only 20? Cos Edguy was in the lobby and I spent the rest of the set talking to em. ahhh if only the same could happen this year with Nightwish, or Rage, or Sym X or hell any band this year. They might be lesser known but they are all pretty bad ass in my opinion and worthy of my time.

I like Prog bands with Power tendencies and Power bands with Prog tendencies. Zero Hour is some HEAVY Prog. Lucassen of Ayreon (prog) also has Star One (PowerProg). By the way, as far as prog goes, Opeth's newest is straight along those lines and totally kicks ass (in a mellow way).

I get so confused by all of these descriptions:
Prog
Power
Melodic
Death
Black
Thrash
Heavy
Gothic
Etc, Etc.
Can someone define what the differences in all of this stuff is?
I know I do like all of the groups that are gonna be at PP4 so I guess I have to choose both prog and power as well.
