I'm curious about a list of bands that have arguably put out great albums since their last ProgPower appearance. I think that its important for bands that return to the ProgPower stage to not only do so on the basis for their old material and previous performance, but also on the fact that they've put out new material that still ranks them high. Albums that could get them on the stage nearly on their own.

Here are some:

Kamelot - The Black Halo & Ghost Opera
Blind Guardian - Fly
Symphony X
Pain of Salvation - Scarsick
Manticora - Black Circus part I & II (okay I haven't heard II yet.)
Therion - Gothic Kaballah
Rage -
Nightingale - White Darkness (awesome album. Top 5 for year so far)

Nightwish - Once, Dark Passion Play(sept 2007)
Circus Maximus - Isolate(soon to be released)
Wuthering Heights - Shadow Cabinet
Vanden Plas - Christ O
Silent Force - Walk the Earth, Worlds Apart
Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic Calling
Edguy - Hellfire Club, Rocket Ride
Outworld - Outworld

There maybe more but these are the ones i remember

I think Therion is the best example, Gothic Kaballah is phenomenal. I'd be happy with a setlist from just that album. Then I'm gonna say Edguy's Rocket Ride is one of my favorites too, so their on my list. Those are my top two, otherwise I agree with most others mentioned.

Vanden Plas - Christ 0 ...my #1 pick of '06

Astral Doors - Of the Son and the Father, Evil Is Forever, Raiders of the Ark EP, Astralism...wait...that means they haven't played PP yet...doh!

Of course no list could be even considered without...

PoS - Be

JDub & others will chime in shortly with that one

Huge Edguy fan, but I have to beg to differ on the great album since PP appearance as the last two have been very lackluster imo.

+1

Also, I didn't like Nightwish's "Once" or Kamelot's "Ghost Opera" either. My contributions to the list would be:

Symphony X
Gamma Ray
Brainstorm
Adagio
Into Eternity (but I don't really think we need them back)

Thunderstone - Evolution 4.0. 'Nuff said.

and I'd hardly call Brainstorm's Liquid Monster to be a great album... it was a complete stinker, IMO.

I am the total opposite. "Liquid Monster" was a huge album nonstop awesome Power Metal where as I thought "Evolution 4.0" was a disappointment compared to "Tools of Destruction"
