ProgPower USA IX picture thread

For Jenn:

This is just the first one I've done of Pathosray. I will probably be able to finish up Elvenking this weekend and move on to them.

Edit: Ah what the heck, one more for tonight. :)
It turns out a LOT of my Pathosray pictures are going to take some time to get right because I had no real idea of how I wanted my settings as this was my first Concert Shoot, and having only 2 songs to tweak everything..... I DID get some good shots though, so don't worry.

MONDO thanks!!! I mean LOTS of thanks... LOADS!! Great pics of Marco :kickass: I look forward to seeing the rest...

I don't care what they say about ya nailz, you're a-ok in my book...

I used the XTi for all my pictures and the "el-cheapo" 50mm 1.8/f lens. I mean, if I can get this quality out of that camera, I can't even imagine what someone who's a pro could do with something better.

That's the exact camera that I have. Do you use any post-processing software? If so, what do you use? Those pictures of Pathosray's singer (forget his name) came out great!

Your first concert shoot? Very impressive!!!!!!

My first concert shoot was a disaster but the best learning experience ever. I unfortunately had no idea about photography before that. But for me, it was good to start out that way. If you can manage that now (and you already are), man, I can't wait to see what your work is going to look like down the line after several more gigs. Your work is already very good, both here and on the Art & Photography topic. You're off on a very good start with live photography.

Thank you . Yes, this was my first one! Thanks for the encouraging words, really, they do mean a lot, because I do want to get into photography more, especially gig shooting. It was just so much fun, especially the band members who were so into getting photographed.

I don't know much about it yet, but I'm going to dive deeper!

Hahaha. No problem at all. And thanks for the back-handed complement!:lol: ... Glad you liked these. I'll be sending the final products off to the band for their use.

Yes. I tweak the RAW CR2 settings in photoshop just a bit, then use neatimage which was pointed out to me in this thread to remove noise. I shot at 1600 ISO all night, but probably could've gotten away with less. Thanks for the complements. :)

Thanks a TON Nailz... if you need an address or anything let me know... The guys don't have many live shots and these are just totally outta the park!!!!

I think they'll be home Monday-sih from ProgPower Europe..

thank you all so much for posting your pictures, it surely makes me feel as if I were there.....without the hangover:heh: Looking forward to seeing and reading more, keep up the great work!

Didn't we determine Zod was Ralf Scheepers? :P

Yeah, that was last year though. Great to meet you by the way.

ProgPower n00b, I see. :)

From PP6: corset night. Had no time to stalk the corsets this year, sorry.

Damn! That picture is back when I still had all my "wits" about me!

Don't miss those days... And I made that corset too...

You've met me several times over the years  .. We just haven't talked for more than 2 minutes at a time. Remember PP VII when Mike from Mercenary hooked you up with the drum stick? And .. what? PP VI when you and Curufin kept going back and forth on your name?

Great to leave an impression this year though. :goggly:

yeah, and uh... your 'wits' almost fell out of that homemade corset.

:p

Sadly, nope. They were tucked away about 3 inches in. Just had that much to share!

Yeah, point taken. That's what I meant.... To talk more than about 30 seconds!

Day 2 sampler gallery is delayed a bit. Posting onesies and twosies in the meantime.
