ProgPower VI line-up preview (not really)...

Royal Hunt as a headliner? I'd like to hear Glenn's comments on this. I'd be shocked if they had the drawing power to deserve more than #3 slot.

Zod
You maybe right Zod they probably dont have the drawing power here in the states, so lets change places with Masterplan and make Masterplan the headliner. And let's add another band to the Pre-Party, none other than DGM. I just got a CD by them and I AM IMPRESSED, i had never heard anything by them before now i am hooked. :headbang:

Another CD you need to find is Aztec Jade this is a sleeper granted it's kinda old but DAMN, they rock. :hotjump:

For Friday, I would love to see Lanfear as I think they would tear the place up, and Royal Hunt to me is a must headliner next year. They are such a talented band that continue to put out great albums- not to mention John West must make it to the big stage!!!

As for other bands I would love to see, they would include Time Machine, Labyrinth, Shaman, Poverty's No Crime (great choice!), Human Fortress (please!!!!), Eldritch, Scenes (as an opener), and Stygma IV. Oh, and Balance of Power with Corey Brown would be another great show to see.

Well, Glenn has enough to choose from, that's for sure. Counting down the days to Conception!!!!!!!!!:OMG: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :OMG:

Damn...we think alike...

Time Machine...PNC...Scenes (great new band)...and Stygma IV...

Wow...nice choices...and nice fodder for the Harvester's meat grinder for future years...

Rock on!

Substitute Freak Kitchen for Isis & you'd have my vote.......

I was going to say the same thing, especially after reading some of Glen's commnets about how he loved the new CD. I still think Move is their best and if people like the new one their gonna LOVE the old stuff!

Here's the best lineup possible, IMO:

Friday:
Manigance
Poverty's No Crime
Dragonforce
Shaaman
Lande/Allen

Saturday
Vanishing Point
DivineFire
Pagan's Mind
Blind Guardian
Sonata Arctica

It rocks!!! :tickled:

I've never pirated anything. ;)

I really am looking forward to the Reborn CD, so it's encouraging to know that it's good. I've heard clips, and judging by what I've heard, it sounds really good!

I've been a huge fan of Stryper since I was a kid. :worship:

I'd like to see Pagan's Mind live. I didn't get to see them the first time. It surprises me that you have Divine Fire in there, eventhough I wouldn't argue against seeing them!

Here's what I'd like to see though.

Friday:
Divine Fire
Dionysus
Balance of Power
Tad Morose (I want to see these guys again!)
Kamelot

Saturday:
Vision Divine
Joe Lynn Turner (Yep, JLT. Why not? PC69 is down there this year!)
Redemption
Masterplan
Primal Fear

No argument here.

Wow, I am actually kind of surprised to hear this from you. I understand the fact that they aren't necessarily a big draw, but was Pain of Salvation such a big draw over here? I just think that they are one of the top progressive metal bands in the genre who have an extensive catalog and have yet to play the states. While I realize a bands lengthy catalog does not automatically catapult them to headliner status, I am curious as to your thought process with regard to your opinion.

I do think RHunt are a perfect fit for the festival. However, they do not come near a 90 minute consideration for the following reason:

1. Draw. You can break this down into two parts: album sales and touring. Their album sales have dropped since the days of "Paradox" and have stagnated for the most part in the West era. They do tour, but on a much smaller venue basis and a smaller date range.

2. Buzz. I visit a *lot* of forums looking for the band that people are talking about. There has barely been a whimper over their most recent disc. If I'm wrong, please direct me to where I should be reading. I'm not trying to be negative at all as I really am missing it.

In terms of Pain of Salvation, it's a combination of the above factors plus the "cult" following they have developed. They are one of the most discussed bands on the DT/DT members forums and have a growing following and have proven to sell tickets based on their previous festival appearances.

This is what I've always used to gauge a band's popularity. Though occasionally, I get get surprised. For instance, I would have never guessed that Rage would have warranted a #5 and Therion a #4. It's for that same reason that I'm always puzzled when I hear someone on this board say that Running Wild should headline the festival. I don't think I've ever seen a single Running Wild post on another board.

Rage is an anomally. They have twice the number of albums any other band has that has performed plus been together for two decades. They use to get quite a bit of coverage in the metal mags when they had U.S. distribution. Those factors led to my decision.

And of course...once Evergrey left they stage, they took everyone with them. and left Rage with a half empty building. You can't bat .1000 all the time I guess.

That also proves that I have a unique setting and I have to judge bands differently sometimes. I have no doubt that Evergrey can headline one night in the future and pack the place out. On the reverse side, they haven't been able to do anything more than be an opening act elsewhere in the States.

As for Therion, they are headlining the House of Blues on their first tour so I'm very comfortable with their position.

Okay, now i understand Glenn's reasoning behind Royal Hunt not as an opener, and it totally make sense, we are in the presence of greatness, and should all thank him for trying to get the best for us. BUTTTTT i do believe Royal Hunt deserves alot of consideration not just because i like them but they are fabulous in concert whether small venues or large. So if you go by Buzz Glenn how bout checking out MACHINE MEN, and Possibly LANFEAR i don' think either of them would disappoint.

I for one would love to see Royal Hunt play the festival! People need to take a listen to their newest offering, because it's a dramatic improvement from their back catalog. I feel like the band would make a great mid slot.

From a financial standpoint, I understand Glenn's resoning on the buzz factor, but other folks may not dig for music as much on some of these other forums.

I'm pretty convinced that if a band isn't on the Century Media label in the states, 99.9% of the population doesn't know who they are anyway.

Are you including the D.C. years? 'Cause I like John West's voice, but they've not been able to again capture the magic that was 'Moving Target' & 'Paradox'...IMO. I do think they would be a great 3rd slot band, though, and hope they get a serious look for next year.

Okay, i have done alot of listening and thinking and i am going to amend my choices;

Pre-party

Forgotten Tales
Pantomind
Black Majesty

Friday

Cloudscape
Pyramaze
LANFEAR
Royal Hunt
Helloween

Sat.

Outworld
Edenbridge(with DC Cooper as guest)
Povert's No Crime
FREEDOM CALL
Masterplan

hope this is okay? How bout it Glenn think you could pull it off if you like it??? :OMG:
