Just to clarify, my comment was not a criticism. I was just pointing out that I was unaware of Rage, in respect to their body of work.Harvester said:And of course...once Evergrey left they stage, they took everyone with them. and left Rage with a half empty building. You can't bat .1000 all the time I guess.
Evergrey does indeed have an unusual relationship with your audience. If I had to guess, I believe it goes back to PPII. By the time they took the stage, they had said "Hello", shook hands, posed for a picture and had a beer with everyone in attendance. When they actually took the stage, I believe everyone felt as if they were watching one of their friend's bands.Harvester said:That also proves that I have a unique setting and I have to judge bands differently sometimes. I have no doubt that Evergrey can headline one night in the future and pack the place out. On the reverse side, they haven't been able to do anything more than be an opening act elsewhere in the States.
I actually asked Henrik, in an interview, about how incredibly accessible they are as a band. I was curious as to whether it's a natural outgrowth of their collective personalities or whether it's a conscious decision to be that accessible. He said, it's a bit of both. whatever it is, it's clearly made an impact.
