Programming Bass (guitar), how do you work?

Just started to program a bass for my own stuff and well, it's definately a long way to get it flowing...

I searched a bunch of hours for some useful tutorials or posts and have barely found anything.

So if anybody wannna tell something about his workflow(workarounds, using a keyboard etc...) it would be a good starting point for knowledge, I think.

What sort of stuff are you working on?

Short of electronic, you should just borrow a bass and play it yourself...

It's some "techy" guitar stuff, nothing fancy, just for fun...

Thought about buying or borrowing a bass as well, but I wanna upgrade my programming skills and I think programming a GOOD bass comes in handy quite often...

And a big point for me was the shit in shit out principle, you need atleast a good Squire(or equal) and constantly new Strings.
I thought that this thread can be seen as a good basis for starters aswell as "pros" for more detailed tips.
