Propellerhead Announced New DAW - "ReCord"

I don't know .... it looks like it would be kinda fun ... but probably not for me.
I also heard there is a Dongle type device - but you don't have to use it?!
they say it will run in (3) different modes: Demo, Dongle (respectively), and via an Internet Authorization.
I guess they are trying another approach to minimize Piracy or something.
Hope that it works out for them.

I think it's definitely priced right, $299 for full, $149 for Reason 4 Owners, and $629 for both Record and Reason.

The authorization scheme is quite good I think. http://www.propellerheads.se/products/record/index.cfm?fuseaction=get_article&article=ignition_key

Dongle for regular use, if you forget the dongle, you can still work in demo mode, you can even save in demo mode, only restriction is you can't OPEN a saved session. and if you are connected to the internet you can authorize it online for the session as if the dongle were connected.

Looks like a great product. I wonder how well the SSL EQ modeling holds up against the expensive plugins?

I have confidence that it will be amazing. Propellerhead doesn't fuck around when it comes to quality. My only gripe is no VST in this.

It will definitely be cool to be able to use the Reason plugs on audio tracks, as their plugins are quite good.
