Question about overhead mic purchase

[Onset to putrefaction]

Hey everyone. I was looking into buying some pretty nice overheads that will last. I've heard TONS of great things about the Oktava MK012's, and i've also looked into the Rode NT5's. i have around $450.
What overheads / small diaphragm condensers do you all use?

You know what... I got a cheap set of MXL 990/991's (2 of each model) at some Guitar Center sale a couple years back and haven't used them until this last band that I recorded... think they cost me about $100 total.

I don't think they sound half bad... could have maybe compressed them differently, but I dont think they sound half bad...

If you want, I can send you a dry clip of the overs so you can hear what they picked up before all the processing...

i just got myself a pair of oktavas fuckin amazing. totally improved my shitty drumset into something that sounds like a decent kit. pretty good on acoustic guitars too.
