First off, sorry if this is answered anywhere. I've done some thorough Googling and toying with the forum search, and haven't had any real luck.
I just picked up a 6505 2x12, really happy with it, and I'm currently working out my pedal chain. I've currently got a Boss NS-2 in front of the amp, and it does a decent job of keeping things quiet, but I wanted to try Ye Olde X Pattern for comparison (that is, using the NS-2's loop in conjunction with the amp's loop so all the noisy crap can be isolated).
However, after setting it up, I've found that it just manages to cut the volume a bit and kill the highs. Turning up the threshold, turning on Mute, nothing affects it.
I know the NS-2 works fine, as I've done the same thing with other gear, and I've quintuple-checked that the cables are all going to the right places.
Given all this, my questions are thus:
- Is the 6505's effect loop in series, or parallel? The documentation doesn't say either way, but parallel would obviously explain the issue. Keep in mind that this isn't a Plus, which I understand has a different setup.
- If it is parallel, is there any other way to go about making it work properly with the NS-2's loop? Like I said, the noise isn't horrible with the gate sitting out front, but tighter is always better.
Cheers.
