First of all, thank you to all of you that take the time to upload sampled drums.

I just want to clarify if this is correct.

Most of the samples posted on here by the community are just a foundation; a place to start, correct?

Meaning its our job to EQ and COMP since they are unprocessed samples?

I was currently working with a sample (recently posted) that i didn't think was that great but after sucking out some mids and using SPL Transient Designer Plug-In (absolutely must have) i got it to sound absolutely great in a mix. I was quite surprised on how great it sounded. At first it thought it was very dull and big, but after making a few scoops, it sounded much clearer and brighter.

Is this the case for the majority of samples?

Yes it is dude. Its your job to make stuff sound in a mix . To me all samples , even the heavily processed ones, are going to need more eq and compression to make it fit in your mix.

Some don't require compression, but usually you'll end up blending lots of stuff and EQing it a lot too (gotta love the SPL Transient Designer man, agreed fo sho).
