Total noob question about Drum Samples

Hi, I want to start recording some tracks on my computer soon and I really don't like using midi drums, but I can't afford the expensive drum sample software.
Is there a cheap and easy way to use decent sounding sampled drums?
I found a the thread with free samples but no idea how to use them.

seriously tough, try battery. simple as pie
