this is a late reply, but most american commercial airlines have a 70 pound weight limit.

budget european airlines like ryan air and easyjet have a 20kg limit (about 42 pounds).

I have another question. Do they consider a guitar a bag? I really want to bring one but not if I have to pay crazy money.

how much luggage is there? you can check in two pieces of luggage and carry one. a guitar can count as one piece of luggage that needs to be checked. just pray someone doesnt steal it in the baggage claim (yes, this does happen).
