Anyone ever heard of Ashton guitars?

If so, are they any good, cos all things going according to plan I'll be buying one on Friday :D

I think ive heard of them, are they an Australian brand? (The names familiar I just dont have my guitar magazines here at work so I cant go through them and then say what they are like and make myself sound really knowledgeable......damn.)

Hi Spawny :) Yep, Aussie designed, and made in Vietnam (which is why they're cheap I guess?) :) It LOOKS lovely, and I'll get the bloke at the shop to demonstrate it for me before I hand over the dosh.

It has gold knobs on

Yep Im pretty sure I do know them, they got a very good review in the magazine they were in if that helps!?

P.S. Theres a lot of gold knob jokes just sitting there waiting to be said, I however will show restraint and refrain :)

Australian Guitar Magazine, ill have a look when I get home and see, Im pretty sure it was ashton, I may be wrong though!

And for those following the dramas of Mark and his new geetar, this is the one (if I remember correctly!) I saw in the shop yesterday, and which I hope to go in and check out & purchase on Friday :) But in GREEN! (kinda flamey green)

With gold knobs on

The update on this breaking story of musical world domination by the geetar maestro known only as "Mark" is that we are purchasing said Ashton tomorrow!!! Which means I get to play it tomorrow instead of Friday!!! It's got 2 humbuckers, and a slidy switch which lets you have 3 single coils instead!! :o I'm almost certain thats a good thing!!! ;)

And Chris - you scared the fuck outta me with that avatar! I had to sit and think to myself "Does he really look like that?" . . .

TIMMAH! Have you heard or seen an Ashton before? I think they're an Ibanez clone...

They look more like PRS guitars but WAY cheaper!

Aside from what they look like, I can't say I've ever heard of them myself! But I'm probably not the right person to ask - I only use my own custom guitars...

I am now the owner of a dark green ashton ag-200 :) BUT, I had it wrong - it has SILVER knobs, not gold ones :)

And I'm now coming to grips with just how much of the little I knew years ago, I've forgotten :o

But I can almost play the beginning of 'Stacked Dead Actors' by the Foo Fighters already :D
