Just wondering if anyone knew a way to process the vocals to sound like they do on more so the lows on this record. A band i am tracking now says they want the vocals processed similar to this and i cant seem to figure out how to do it and my attempts haven't been too close.

I'm starting to see the point of these threads less and less (mind you I have posted a few in my day). The vocalist ESPECIALLY will make or break the difference in production. Also, what kind of mic you used, preamps etc. You should process the vocals around the mix, not vice versa. Just sounds like layering to me

^yeh. Sounds like they tracked the growls at least twice, hard panned L - R and then filtered to sound a bit more phone-like. Do I also hear a touch of distortion/overdrive and perhaps some harmonizer?

SM-7 for lows and a Neumann U87 for the highs I believe is what JB told me (aka Seizure).... you'll never get this sound unless Sven himself is doing the vocals. dude is a fucking BEAST.... =D

one of the most distinct voices in death metal, IMO...

thanks guys. and yes i understand you need to have a really good vocalist to achieve a great sound but i just wasn't sure if there was anything special done i was missing. I really like the spread the lows have. Along with having an insane voice, the vocal production is cool and not like most records.

Most definitely^^^^ Doesn't sound like they used any crazy tricks, besides an awesome vocalist and bunch of layering/ panning. Effing LOVE this band and record btw
