Question

Not with a "low" setting however in my defence Ive never had a tubescreamer...so im basically saying do you think the real deal IE the tube screamer would be more effective than that DOD 308. Because I might as well by a TS if not.

I dont want to buy one then find out there isnt really much in the difference between the two. Anybody have the YJM 308 per chance?

I have used both and they both have there own tone thing. it is hard to go wrong either way IF you need to use a pedal infront of your amp. I use a 5150
striaght in which I just love the sound of. use two sm57's on a boogie dual recto or marshall 1960 lead and you got METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. put in more midrange. that tightens up ANY sound out there

Thanks Curran! Id die to have a Mesa Cab but it looks like ill be using a Peavey XXX with a Framus Dragon V30's and a SM57 so it shouldnt be too different to the set up you said. I might not need it when I get the new halfy, just good to keep my options open from the outset

Thanks once again lads!

well more pedals are always a good thing for the studio and tracking(more toys more tone) how ever!!! if you have a subpar cab no pedal will fix that in the end!!! AND I would recomend using TWO sm57's one on the cone one on the edge at a 45 degree angle(watch for phasing issues) and blend to taste. BUT before you drop 100 on a YJM AND 100 on a TS-9 look into finding a good used 4x12 cab (marshall lead 1960 NOT JCM900) trade out your old cab and you will be sitting pretty!!!! really look at your amp/cab combo and start there. the marshall/boogie idea will make your sound AMAZING right out of the box!!!!

Ive had a look on the net for a used Mesa and it just isnt happening. There dosent seem to be any decent second hand cab that is for sale near my area (so I can see what condition its in etc". Its really annoying, hence why I thought the Framus would be a good choice since its cheap and has the ol' V30's.

Ill look into the two SM57 idea, ive only got 1 SM57 and 1 SM58 atm :erk:
