Random question about different book intrests.

new and fresh smelling Dan Brown's "DaVinci Code" :) just bought it in Greece, started reading it on the boat so... I stopped at the chapter 3.
other than that, Mihail Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita". this time I know I'll make it to the end. \m/ LOL

I read a lot of fantasy–Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, and the almighty George R.R. Martin being my favorite authors. Recently I've gotten into a genre I've dubbed "small-town literature," consisting mainly of Sherwood Anderson, early Jack Kerouac, and Thomas Wolfe; also, I really like T.C. Boyle's various novels and short stories.

What else? When Stephen King is on, he is ON–see The Stand, It, Misery and the amazing Dark Tower series for examples. However, when he's on autopilot, it's just painful to read–try Christine for an example of what I'm talking about.

That's all I can think of right now. Oh, some random mythological stuff. I'm trying to find a good, cohesive collection of Celtic folklore.

i used to say Tom Robbins = favorite author

but honestly i haven't read a book in a while, outside of some zombie stories here and there (The Rising by Brian Keene, which i still have a few pages left in about a year after i started it.. but i think there's a second book in the series coming out soon, thats next on my 'to read' list)

other than that, uhh , I'll say james joyce- finnegans wake, just to make me cooler than you

I read Oscar Wilde - The portrait of Dorian Gray
Tom Clancy
John Grisham
Stephen King
Jacques Ferron
Gaétan Soucy
Aldous Huxley
Primo Levi
Jean-Claude Guillebaud ( A book called the Humanity principle. Philosophical stuff about the human condition. )
Also read some poesy by Baudelaire - Les Fleurs du Mal.

Preferably true crime. Otherwise, ancient History, autobiography's, reference, human anatomy. I love to read. Gimme a cereal box in a pinch. Plus all my magazines, and the fucking NEWS. I want to read news, not HEAR news.

I have a favorite author, he's unknown...a friend.

Fucking A. I read obsessively. When I was little I'd get a new book and absolutely refuse to go to bed until the book was finished. I'd turn the lamp on, read, and when my parents came in to tell me to sleep already I'd act like I had just gotten up to use the bathroom. Never fooled them, but they were glad I was reading.

Jorge Borges (an originator of magical realism and brilliant writing)
Joe R. Lansdale
Neil Gaiman
Chuck Palahniuk
Amy Hemple
Brett Easton Ellis
various fantasy, horror, non-fiction, etc.

I read alot in my teens but as I get a little older I absolutely cant stand to read at all. The last thing Ive read and am still reading is
DANTE'S INFERNO.

I'm picky with books, mostly because some authors have annoying writing styles.

I do like anything by Peter S. Beagle (a fine and private place, etc), Garth Nix (the Sabriel series), and books like Farenheit 451, the Jungle, and some of the books by Vivian Vande Velde...my room is full of booksies

I think The Lord of the Flies is my favorite

Diana Gabaldon is my favorite author. I'm re-reading the Outlander series for the 6th time at the moment.

I also read Stephen King, Anne Rice, Lovecraft, Dean Koontz...

I read a lot of horror, fantasy, romance, sci-fi, and historical fiction. In the non-fiction genre, I have a bunch of military history books (all of them are Scotland related), Scottish history books, and biographies of Scottish figures. I should have just said Scottish books.

I don't nearly read as much as I used to and that's a pity, because I like reading a lot. Mainly the stuff I've been reading has been some history books for my paper and some mythological stuff for another paper. I am teh lose.

I like to read Negura Magazine whenever I can find it however.

Which version of Dantes Inferno? Cause there are different writing restructures based on who did the translation... is yours fairly easy reading? Cause the copy of the three books I got are pretty cryptic and take a while because you have to stop at the end of each canto to rethink what just happened.

As for my preferences, I used tobe a die-hard fantasy addict, but nowadays I find myself reading more on the thriller/horror side. Of everything I've read, I'd place my more preferred authors as (in no particular order):
RA Salvatore
Margaret Weis
Clive Barker (Abarat is just kool.... yo...)
Dan Brown

Anyone wanna recommend me some good horror/thriller books with more of a religion base?

To many authors to list. My apartment looks like a frigging library/record shop. I just started giving away books I read a long time ago to used book shops.
