rare prog from early 70s

Here's a question for anyone familiar with Gentle Giant. I have the albums Gentle Giant through Free Hand. Dare I venture further into the "pop" years? (I heard In'terview was OK).

and I want that Comus compilation album. But $40? I guess that's not for the casual prog fan.

youre contemplating buying the "pop" year gentle giant albums, but complaining about the pricetag of essential material like comus? interesting way of doing things.

try amazon.com's used section if you really cant afford it new. its $14 on there, i dont know where you found it for $40...the mexican black market?

I found the 1980 reissue of Quatermass - s/t and would be interested in buying that album. So, are the 2 bonus tracks on the reissue worth to get that edition or should I better search for the 1970 original issue?

you mean a 1970 original issue LP? or just a CD pressing of the original 1970 recording?

if youre strictly buying CDs, then id say always purchase versions with as many tracks as possible...why not have more music for your money?

if you are considering getting into vinyl, then prepare to be fairly broke for a very long time...or to be limited by condition or quantity due to price. for instance, an original copy of quatermass as you show interest in would easily fetch at least a couple hundred dollars in fair condition.

the vinyl is a lot of fun, and definitely the most interactive and personable way of collecting music, but unfortunately its also the most costly in this genre.

You mentioned Dungen on Mellotronen in Sweden, but it is Subliminal Sounds who puts out their records out in the EU. "Ta Det Lugnt" is the best contemporary record I have come across in ages - can't wait to see where they take it on the next release.

well, yes, subliminal sounds is the record company dungen is on. i thought you meant what albums should you buy from the mellotronen website...which would indeed include dungen.

if youre asking what bands are good on mellotronen records label specifically, not their shop...then trettioariga kriget, asoka, charlie and esdor, paatos and morte macabre are the essentials.

i always have extra "essential" vinyl for sale. i beleive some extra rush, genesis, ELP, camel, black sabbath, the beatles, the nice, yes, nektar, jethro tull, captain beyond, etc etc.
