not exactly my cup of tea, but whatever. it seems to be the junk the teenie-boppers are buying these days. it's a band I just finished recording the other day. I did some guest vox at the end of the song. their screaming is pretty good imo. just curious what you guys think. I feel like my mixes are no longer getting better with every song I do. any suggestions?

Holy fuck they tried to copy Attack Attack! That´s sad :zombie::Puke: How do you pan the guitars? This sounds too mono.

do the guitars feel like they're panned alittle unbalanced to the right?
Also...

You polished it pretty well, but I agree with everyone else; the guitar tone isn't beastly enough for this. You need more bass on the amp it sounds like, and a bit less treble. You did get a nice crunch from the guitars, though.

Tell this band to stop copying off of Attack Attack !! HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLEH MULTIPLY TEH SUCK EVEN MORE?!?!?!?!??
I'm serious. They sound like decent musicians. Tell 'em try to WRITE THEIR OWN MATERIAL AND THEY WILL BE BETTER.
As a producer, you should help them. Tell them to break out of the box. Use an instrument that doesn't make saw wavs or have only sub low frequencies in it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The band is DEFINITELY not the kind of stuff I listen to. I hate bands like Devil Wears Prada and Attack attack with a passion. There's so little talent in bands like that. There are so many better musicians that deserve their shot at "making it" than bands like that.

This song is "finished" for the band, but I will definitely work on some of these suggestions for the next recordings I do. I really need to get into micing amps and get good at it. I get decent results for now, but the direct stuff is still better (due to my lack of skill with a mic). I don't want to do something for a client unless it's going to sound "better". I've been toying with the idea of picking up an axe fx too. I hear some awesome tones out of those suckers, and they sound a lot more natural than Pod Farm tones. maybe I'll nab one after I get a new computer.

For those of you asking for specifics, the guitar was a faded Gibson LP studio with stock pickups direct into POD Farm. Guitar 1 was a 5150 with the line 6 4x12 off axis 57 and a Big Bottom with 4x12 "treadplate" with a 57 off axis. the second guitar was a 5150 line 6 4x12 57 off axis with the boost/eq pedal, and was eqed differently than guitar 1. second amp was the "treadplate dual" through the line 6 4x12 with a 57 off axis also with the boos/eq pedal. amps were hard panned. single takes from each guitarist with each guitarist coming a little louder out of one side than the other (so guitar 1 was a little louder on the left, and guitar 2 was a little louder on the right). both guitars were bussed to an eq with a highpass and low pass filter and slightly scooped mids.

Maybe I should be doubling each guitar? Most of the bands I record are high school aged kids, so most of the time I have a hard enough time getting a solid take out of a player, so I think even 2 takes would be tough. Plus at the rate I charge right now, that would be a lot of added time. I'm not making much money as it is. I'm still trying to get my name established in the area. I've only been doing this for about a year!

edit:apparently this forum deletes spaces in front of paragraphs. haha.

It's not even the fact of being ridiculous music... it's just because it's so fucking ripped off from Sticky Stickly from Attack Attack!, cant they fucking see that shit? It's exactly the same shit lol... anyways, guitars do sound a bit weird, I think it's missing a bit of cab movement, like as someone stated, more bass from the cab itself, also their pan is sounding a bit awkward. Otherwise it's sounding good, drums sound ace

Even the song structure is like Stick Stickly...
EDIT: Well at least at the start.

The mix sounds good but I think it could do with some meat (mids to lows?) Listening on crappy headphones...

Hahaha. I was actually singing along to this song with the lyrics from an Attack Attack! song. Fit perfectly. Pretty cool, I just agree with majority that guitars don't sound quite right.
