I made this poll with you in mind!
I thought that might be the case. Ha ha ha.
Ya' know I could over self-anylize all the reasons I like Accept, like favorite guitarist etc. but the fact is, when we have those "pick only ten CDs you could have if you were marooned on a dessert island" threads, I lie to make my post interesting. I would probably pick about four Accept CDs simply because I have been listening to those fuckers for over 20 years and I have never been burned out on them.
If I have one of those days where I want to listen to music and nothing really sounds good to me, I can always throw in an Accept CD and enjoy it 100% of the time. There is not another band in my personal listening history I can say that about.
Having said all of that, after listening to Wolf's solos for over 20 years, I am still amazed at him. He can be as "technical" as the next guy when he wants to be, but the expression he puts on sooooo many of his individual notes is practically unparalelled. To use a slightly technical term, his "phrasing" is amazing, but phrasing is usually directed to how one plays a group of notes. Wolf "phrases" (the only way I can really call it) with one note often because of so much expression he puts on that note. By the time you link several of his notes together, it is impossible to play that stuff the way he does on disc, though from a dexterity or speed standpoint, it may fairly mediocre stuff.
Accept also constantly re-invented themselves without really alienating their core fans with the exception of their last couple of releases where they dropped the rythm guitar member. If you threw Tobias Sammett on the lead vocals on "All or Nothing" from the "Objection Overruled" release you couldn't threaten people's life and make them believe that wasn't an Edguy song (with the exception Ludwig doesn't play guitar quite like that) if they weren't familiar with it. It is that much of a "sing along" style anthem. Though Udo's "limited" style of vocals probably put some limitations on Accept's songwriting, there aren't many bands that really have more diversity in their style.
