Sorry dudes....but before they were "Sellouttica" They were fucking
"Metal up your ass, Kill Em All METALLICA!!!!!"

And before that ridiculous "The System Has Failed" I don't need a great bass player and founding member of the band MegaDave bullshit.....They were
"Killing Is My Business, Peace Sells, MEGADETH!!!!

So my thinking is they've both made mistakes and both are great in their own right!! Hence the vote for both...

I used to prefer Megadeth in the 90's but have found that Metallicas music has overall stood the test of time better. Saying that.. I still prefer Rust in peace to any Metallica album. I have to sit on the fence on this one since the option was there.

I voted for Megadeth! I like early Metallica up to TBA. I don't like anything by 'em after that. As far as Megadeth goes, the only albums by them that I don't like are Cryptic Writings and Risk.

Megadeth? Over Metallica?

You gotta be kidding.

They're great an' all, but they're nowhere near as good.

Dave Mustaine = Metallica Reject.

=D

According to your reasoning Kirk Hammet should be an Exodus reject. O wait, he was not kicked out of Exodus. Does not matter much because your line of reasoning makes no sense to me. Dave was kicked out of Metallica and therefore he can not make a bunch good metal albums? Sounds like a non sequitur to me.

I'd like to remind you of what the famous British DJ Tommy Vance used to say;

"Its the music that matters"

And that, my friend, is a very personal thing. Most people that voted for Megadeth did so because they thought the quality of their releases were not better per individual album than Metallica's, but that the Megadeth catalog as a whole was more consistent.

Sound like a good argument to me. But I could be wrong of course because in the end it really is just a matter of individual preference.

Welcome to UMOS!

I'm just curious about something....do you think that lars is a good guy? im just asking for your opinion

I fucking hate Lars Ulrich. I thought he was alright, I was willing to overlook the Napster thing...and then I saw Some Kind Of Monster.

And yes, I do agree it is about the music, which is why I still love Metallica regardless.

I also have an unexplainable loathing of that Trujillo character.

What I mean is, Dave Mustaine had a chance to be in Metallica and he blew it. People are only starting to prefer Megadeth to Metallica because they're not "sell-outs".

Translation = Metallica have been more successful.

I don't care what's happened to Metallica over the past few years, it's about what they've achieved in music. And their older stuff is greater than anything Megadeth could ever make, in my opinion.

Good comeback! You're gonna fit right in :)

Actually, I prefer Megadeth, because....well, Dave is a FAR superior writer than James IMO, and I just like the Megadeth sound better overall. NOT because metallica sold out.

I know this is veering a little off topic, but to expand a bit on the original question, this is how I see the Big 4, in terms of who I like the most:

1. Anthrax
2. Slayer
3. Megadeth
4. Metallica
